Haha! Well, 45 may be a little far fetched for that rig, but it's definitely much more believable with my 1000lb (with motor) boat in the siggy ;) Truthfully, I get her up to 40....but maybe if I went from a 13P to a 15P prop....I'd squeeze it to 45. But that boat you posted above....45....

Yea, I've got a 16ft with a 60HP on it. I get 37 or 38 on a good day.

Re: Fastest 60hp ever!

I doubt a 60 will push it that fast. In addition to my sig, we have had since new, a 1984 Bayliner Capri 16 footer with 85hp that will push 43 speedo with a 17 pitch 3 blade, aluminum prop. That combo weighs 1000lbs. With an alum 19 it does 45 but who knows what that equates to on GPS. I do know that it can make a new 4 cylinder I/0 look like it is standing still out of the hole. Top speed isn't that impressive on the BLiner but it is how fast it gets to that top speed that is impressive to me which looks even more impressive smaller lakes.
I see ads all the time that claim improbable top speeds.

That 84 Capri 16 has a tagged weight of almost 1100lbs without the motor, and def not including fuel, gear and passengers. I would peg it at around 1500-1600lbs wet, with 1 passenger ;) 43MPH is still really good

I double checked and it is 1090 lbs including motor and don't forget about the "sequential lift hull" (whatever that was). That wet weight is probably a little high because I don't cary any gear and since it only holds 12 gallons of fuel and the first 6 gallons goes quick until you realize you only have one 6 gal tank left then dial it down. Now that I have a GPS, I hope to get it out of the garage and get an accurate reading at some point. Whaterver it is I doubt it really goes 45 even with 15 more horses than the subject boat. What it does have is seat of your pants thrill that my Chaparral doesn't really have.
