Does anyone know what the fastest hull for straight line speed would be. Im talking outboard power here. F1 boats have a tunnel hull but i alwayse thought that was more for just cornering speed rather than just straight line. Could it be an inflatable due to its light weight? I dont know the answer but hopefully someone will. thanks...

I believe it's the modified tunnel hull (nicknamed : picklefork), the tunnel captures enough air to lift the boat so it sort of flies and there's less friction in the air than the water regardless of the type of power. This picture is the launch but it settles down to ride on the tip of the sponsons.

This last picture shows how they ride on a cushion of air... note the dual prop set-up on the second picture. What a launch! Cool stuff!

FYI. This boat probably doesn't qualify as a second home: no cooking nor sleeping facilities. But I guarantee you that if I were driving, it would need a head.....

I believe Allison holds several records for highest speed with a given horsepower motor such as a stock merc 150 efi.
