i was woundering if all fastwin modles were 18hp?here is the only numbers i could find on it. not sure if its the model or serial# 4438-06875

The OMC archive source lists 4438 as the model number for a 1950 14 HP Evinrude.

cool so how would i know if it is the 9.7 or the 14?.....lol thanks

My list was wrong on the archive. It also has 1950 14HP on the number 4438. I will edit the above, sorry for the confusion.

1998 Merc 175 overheating

1998 Merc 175 overheating

Motor overheats but tell tail have good flow.I suppect popit valve problem.Cant hear warning horn,will install warning light.Does electrical shut down some plugs from firing?Had 3 plugs firing until engine cooled to cold.Then all plugs are firing.Read that hole drilled in washer could help but tempature could run cold.Any input? jimmymac

im putting this motor on a Seaking 13' flat bottom boat to get around with and have a 3.5hp clinton to do the trolling with..

Should go like stink if you can get the weight distributed right. Short boats can be tricky sometimes. 24:1 87 octane gas and TC-W3 outboard oil in that sucker. Don't mess around with SAE 30 weight and no need for 16:1.
What does the clinton take?

nate, here's my 1955 15hp on a 14' lonestar. runs between 20-25 mph.
