Hey guys got the carb rebuilt and put back on. New head gasket. Compression is 100 both cylinders.
I have spark on top plug, no spark on bottom. Want to check coil before I replace it and points. I’ve watched
a few videos about how to check primary and secondary. Is this the correct setting for my meter. Thx

I don't waste my time testing coils with ohmmeter.------Used to test them with a MERC-O-TRONIC magneto analyzer.------Those coils are not expensive , have a bunch of new ones on hand all the time.

use 20 kohms to measure 4-8 kohms

if you a going to fix it up fix it up good by changing plug wires with metallic core 7mm wire clean up the boots and prick
pins

coils are 15$ from China and general comments on them are good so splurge and feel confident 10 miles out

you should take some time during this covid stuff to read up on outboard maintenance

all you need to keep your FD running for years is in the bible red book

Yessir thx I know how to change coils, points, and condensers, carb repair, impeller replacement. There just some things that I’m not an expert on. Just wanted to ask some guys who’s probably done this for a living. I keep my motors maintained. Just doing this for a friend and was trying to save him money. Thx
