FD-20 Carb question

My nephew has a 1966 20hp Johnson.. And when the primer bulb is pumped and also when running gas sprays out the side of the carb.. There is hole on the side of the carb below the slow speed drip chamber..
This where the fuel is leaking.. I only saw a bad quality video of it.. I believe it is a bowl vent? What are the main causes for this? Thanks..

Float valve not seating properly due to dirty/bad valve, sinking float or sticky float hinge.

Thanks … I told him that is was probably something to do with float or float valve. We are going to take the carb apart tomorrow.

It was the float.. It was split and swollen.
