Hey folks, I just started downloading the fedora core 4 iso images into a temporary folder on my BIL's laptop, with the intention of e-mailing them to myself after they're downloaded. I just realized that I'm downloading the source rpm's iso's instead of the installation disks. I'm not a programer, and am way behind on the tech scene. Am I going to be able to instal fedora core4 from these iso's? I'd hate to kill the downloads, I'm headed for home in less than an hour and probably don't have time to start over. I can download the correct images when I get home, but was hoping I wouldn't have to.
TIA!

Doh! Nevermind! Just realized hotmail won't accept a 600+mb file. Guess I'll be downloading the corect images when I get home.

No, the source ISOs contain nothing but the SRPMS (Soure code RPM packages, sort of like zip files). You definitely don't want or need them.

I don't understand the download/email deal. If it's because the place you're downloading them from is slow, either chose another mirror or a much better idea is to use a torrent:
http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/
You (likely) want the stentz-dvd-i386.torrent if you have a DVD burner or stentz-binary-i386.torrent if you want to produce CD-ROMs instead. The x86-64 are for 64 bit processors. If you know you have one and want to run Fedora on it, then you can use those. Otherwise stick to i386 which will work on anything.

Thanks Paul,
The Download/email deal was simply this. I was at my brother in laws house, using his laptop. It was a spur of the moment thing. I've been meaning to go Linux for some time now, and I decided to download it about an hour before I was scheduled to head home, so I was going to e-mail the images to myself, then install it on my computer when I got home. No biggie, I'm home now so I'm going to download it now and mess around with a dual boot system for awhile before I decide whether to go "all linux, all the time". I'll probably be posting here about the dual boot thing soon if I can't work it out on my own.
Thanks for the reply!
Oh yeah, the 64 bit. When I was shopping for a laptop awhile back I was actualy going to buy a 64 bit processor laptop, but decided to wait till I could get more out of it. Kinda kicking myself now, I wish I would have done it.
