Ok, so here is the siutation. I just purchased a new t-stat today. the old one was the original from 1996, so i figured it was about time to replace. WELLL it want pee!!! I verifiyed that the thermostat worked by putting it in water under the stove and it opens up, but want open up with my motor (no evidence of it!) I even verifyed that it was the right t-stat and it matched the one i took off. I AM REALLY CONFUSED!! I am putting it in right and everthing! I ran the boat for 3 minutes with no pee coming out after replacing it, so i gave the new t-stat a chance, but it simply isnt working right in my opinion??? It says on it 130, im guessing that is the temp at which it opens..........Also the old t-stat would pee after about 10sec. of operation. can somebody please help me out, i am starting to get really pissed over all of this!!!:confused::mad:

Pull the t-stat, put it in a pan of water on the stove, stick a thermometer in the water, start heating the water up and see if it opens, and at what temp.

Make sure you have a big tub of water to set the motor in. You want the water up and over the cavitation plate, with the impeller completely submerged. A little water should bypass the T stat and give you water flow through the system. Water at the correct hight is critical. Another person said they went to walmart and bought a tub big enough for $8.00

You should get water out of the so called pee port all the time that is to let you know that your pump is working. Is the motor geting hot? if so you have a pluged water path befor the T stat. check the water tube in the midsection or on the bottom of the power head block also check the heads you can do this buy blowing air or water backwards thrue the system start at the T stat. If it is not over heating check the pee port and the water line that is connected to it. check all water paths that you can find with water or air boath ways. some times stuff gets stuck bits of impeller or bugs . somthing from the lake like sand and silt.

Re: Fellows, Im starting to get AGGRIVATED!!! HELP!!

Wanna give an update on my t-stat. I got home and did as suggested. i took some asprin an pried it open to see if any air was gettin to it. Well it peed flawlessly until the asprin melted, then drippled, then stopped! So agian, i took the t-stat out and it peed flawlessly without one! So pretty much it will pee without a thermostat and want pee with one (all these test were ran on muffs).....And i waited with the t-stat in for about 3min and NO PEE! I am soooooooooooooooooooo lost right now it aint even funny!!! I even backflushed to verify that there wasnt anything stuck in the system, all was fine! And like i stated earlier, all this happend after i ran through a BUNCH of duckweed! I need some more ideas to try! Thanks for all who is helping!! But i need some more help!!! Alot of ppl keep saying that i need to check for debris in the system, but i dont understand why bc it will pee flawlessly without a t-stat, so there cant be any debris in the circulatory sytem?....:(:(

130 is the temperature at which the termostat should open.
You said you put it in hot water and it opened, but did you verify the temperature at which it opened?
I'd be suspect of the new thermostat, sometimes new can be bad!

No i did not; however i dumped the old one and the new one togethor and they both opened at just about the same time! Now i have just about given up on options, so i am HOPING that when i take it to the lake it will pee as intended?!?! been running on muffs so i do not know how true the reding can be. due to cold water from the hose. But WHO KNOWS.......I am not really engine inclined!! So i am guessing here. I have done everthing to my knowledge. I am thinking about just taking the t-stat out and being done with it!!!! Because i know that it will pee without one~!

Couple years ago my 125 didn't want to pump right, it was spraying water and steaming a little at the same time, got a new thermostat, new impeller, back flushed the engine, lower unit water tube and it still did the same thing, water too hot to touch!
Gave up ran it for a good while without the thermostat pumped like crazy, water gushed out the pee holes on the engine no more steaming.
The other day I decided to put the thermostat back in and it pumped good and didn't steam. Go figure!

Had to be something there partially blocking the water flow with the thermostat in!
Must have cleared after awhile with the thermostat out!

Got ya maxum. Now I have got a few questions for ya......When i ran my boat with them themosat out it seemed to build alot of condensation around my engine, is this normal? Also, ppl keep telling me that the tall tale on the force is a bypass of the thermostat and that the thermosat should not affect the way my engine pees? It should always pee with one in is what i have been told. IDK, i have pretty much given up on this issue bc i have taken every option i can think about and still cannot fix the problem!! I am going to back it down in the water saturday morning with t-stat in and if it refuses to pee, i will take it out and leave it out!!! Maxum, how long did you run your motor without a t-stat in it??

It should pee when your waterpump is working.
It sounds like it might still have duckweed in the system. Back flush and use an air nozle to clear the lines. Jerry

See jerry that is what i dont understand AT ALL!! PPL keep telling me it should pee with if the water pump is working. BUT here is the thing it does pee when the t-stat isnt in! It pees fine!! Install t-stat and NO PEE!! So does this still lead to my water pump......I HAVE NOOOOOOOOOOOOO IDEA!!

Can somebody tell me the correct place that the begining of your tall tell is sopposed to be located. Mine is on the thermostat housing case. I have been told be somebody that it is supposed to be before your theromstat coming out of your housing???? Look at the above link....Mine is located on # 33 . I have been told that it needs to be located on #28..........Mabey that is why mine isnt peeing from start like it should because it is located past the t-stat, and with the t-stat not opening i am not getting a flow...IDK help me out!?!?!?

I think you have it in the wrong location, do a search for adding a tell tale to a FORCE outboard---> right here http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=210027.

Many pics will come up with one completed, you will have no problem telling than. Good Luck

Hello ifishhard,
I had this same problem a couple of years ago....found out I had a dirt-dobber nest somewhere in the system....finally back-flushed it out.

The water-muffs do not work on my motor at all....they don't fit tightly enough on my Force 35 H.P. So, I put the lower unit in a drum with enough water to cover the decav plate and it pumps strong. ( I cut off a plastic garbage can...it works great, and only costs about $10 or $12. Hope this'll help...good luck.

Re: Fellows, Im starting to get AGGRIVATED!!! HELP!!

Ok My telltall is coming off of the thermostat housing. It has a plastic 90 degree fitting that is on the bottom side of it. Then a tube is attatched to it which proceeds to my pee hole coming out below my crowling. So why would i have to add a taletell if i already have one??? Mine is just installed on the thermostat housing case not thermostat housing?

***Observer the skematics i have posted above: #'s 39, 40, 41, and 42 or my telltall parts. They are all exsisted ALREADY on my motor! #39 connects to the bottom part of the thermostat housing case(#33) and #42 is mounting under my crowling where it usually pees!
This all HAS to be factory becasue there is Factory paint over All of these parts. Now my force isnt an "older modle" like ppl have have added a telltale to theirs mine is a 1996 modle.

Re: Fellows, Im starting to get AGGRIVATED!!! HELP!!

When you changed the impeller and you reattached the lower unit, are you sure that the little plastic tube at the top of the water pump housing connected to the water tube? After I changed my impeller, my motor wouldn't pee at slower rpm but water was coming out around the shift rod. After sleeping on it over night I decided to drop the lower unit to see if everything matched up right. Sure enough, the plastic tube had slipped up the water tube and wasn't making a good connection. I put it back together making sure the connection was right and it peed immediately when I started it up.

Re: Fellows, Im starting to get AGGRIVATED!!! HELP!!

hey i fish, i think badly broken has hit it on the head. i ve seen it probably half a dozen times, when the tube he speaks of isnt fully engaged ,inside the foot above the pump housing, like its supposed to be, it will have enough pressure to pee with out the t-stat in place, but when the t-stat is in place, the water flow picks the least restricded route "the partialy connect flow tube" understand what were saying?thats most likely your problem.re-check your water pump work you did earlier.good luck.
