Re: Felpro or victor gaskets

When I rebuilt my engine I used Victor simply because napa had them instock for my boat, it cost alot though. A month later found a pair of felpro head gaskets for my engine on ebay for cheap, so I bought them just in case. I cann't tell a difference between the two, both look like quality gaskets.

The main difference is the metal rings. Marine ones are of a non-corrosive alloy, car ones are just steel and will rust away unless you have closed cooling. If you have closed cooling, you can probably get away with car gaskets just fine.

Re: Felpro or victor gaskets

Have been impressed with the VictorReinz gaskets I have purchased for my Windsor rebulid. We have always used the 1000 series Fel-Pro's in our performance engine bulids, but the Fel-Pro marines I have seen look like Victors. They may just be the same type of construction. The gasket sets I purchased were a good value, once I pried the book out of the countermans hand and got them looked up. I think you could do no wrong with either brand.<br />Jon

I have used Fel Pro for many different motors over the years with no problems. Most gaskets are made with synthetic materials and the only metal used is around the cylinders. If water is getting to the cylinder rings something isn't right.
