Guys, I have been reading for weeks on here sometimes up to 8 hours a day(should be working...thanks). Anyhow, I am starting the resto of this boat. some specs are 1973 Wellcraft 165 airslot with a 150hp mercury outboard with power trim and tilt. I have gutted the interior and removed the motor last night. unfortunatly I dropped the motor on myself(OUCH). I am a 28 year old guy with a herniated disc...To anyone thinking of attempting removing one of these, I reccomend at least 4 people. I will be attempting to take the cap off of her because I need to get to the bow section under the front seats for floor repair and a possible transom redo. so the questions that I have right now are:
How do you get the boat off the trailer and onto jackstands? I saw that John(jcserca) did this but cant figure out how.
How do I remove the 8000 rivets that hold the cap on under the rub rail?
when replacing the stringers on this boat, do I need to grind down the entire hull before reglassing or just the areas that the glass will overlap?
I have a few scrathes in the gel coat on the keel, they arent all the way through the FG but on a few of them I can see the FG. what do I fix this with?
The boat has already been painted before my purchase of her so I dont want to have to do to much to the outside, repair wise, because I have no clue the color that was used and dont want to look like a dalmation
Thank you for supplying me with all this great info and I look forward to seeing all of your projects, along with my own, come to fruition.
Thanks,
Chris
