Fiberform into Walleye Boat?

So now that I have redone my glastron and enjoyed rebuilding I'm thinking of maybe doing another one. I would be getting the boat for pretty much free so the cost will be just the rebuilding part. But to the next level of rebuilding it are my plans.

Its a 19ish foot by 8 foot so not a small boat. Not in horrible shape but will be the usual stringers transom and floor. But for the cap is were I would go a little crazy on. Basically I want to lose the top open bow it and ditch the rebuilt motor and leg for a outboard and accommodate for a kicker. So basically making it into a walleye slash bass boat.

Is this something outrageously crazy but with time and money could be done? I'm in no hurry since my boat is now mint minus my odds and ends to finish so it would be a time consuming project but maybe worth it at the end of the day and something to call my own. Boats like that are far and few between for sale around hear and cost a mint. I'm sure once done it would cost the same once I put a motor on the back but that could happen on a used boat so at least I know what I got.

Thanks for reading. And dont be a afraid to tell me if Im crazy.

your crazy

first, a walleye doesnt know what kind of boat you are in, or if you are in a boat (I caught most walleye standing on a culvert in a slough that was fed by a creek into the menomonee river). the most boat caught walleye were from a canoe, followed by a pontoon boat, then from a 14' utility boat, then the least amount from a dedicated fishing boat.

second, buy the boat you want vs spending thousands to re-build a boat into something is was never designed to be. your trying to change the overall structure and functionality of a boat as well as change from I/O to OB it would make more sense and cost you so much less to start with a boat closer to your needs.

sedan style cabin boats are pretty hard to find in that size... You could find a rotted Bayliner Capri 1900 with an outboard and re configure that as you rebuild it and end up with almost the exact same type of boat as you want.. modding it into an open bow and then into an outboard is like starting with nothing

Oddly enough me and the boy have caught more fish off the shore then in the boat. Go figure. Anywho I was implying the style of the boat. I miss my 14 foot tiller that I put platform on the bow to fish off of. But then three kids happened and needed something bigger. Hense my Glastron I got now.

There's piles of rotten boats around here but folks want way to much for junk and somehow they sell them for close to what they want. And if there any good there lots of money and still 50 50 chance its not going to screw up. It was a bad year for friends boats who all bought last year and this year. 2 blown legs, one motor, one that leaks from somewhere and mine was in the garage.

The more I think about it and looked at it again this afternoon it would be a pile of work to do. But did see a fiber glass lund with no motor on the way out tucked in another bush. Common thing around here. Something dies and it just gets pushed into the bush and forgotten about

BTW, that boat you have in the picture is worth restoring it back to its original glory as it has fantastic lines.

not sure where you are, however in many states, you need a title or registration from the prior owner.

Yeah its a nice looking boat and not to sure how it got this far up north cause its the only one I've seen around here. So even if I wanted to bring it back to its original state I would never be able to sell it around here.
