I took my Stratos 258V to a local automotive body shop to repair some damage that occured in a home fire. They sanded the area and then glassed over the area. Then they waited about 3 weeks and then somebody put bondo over that to fill in. Now they are saying that they cant finish the job. My question, is it ok to use the bondo? Should I have it removed at wherever I take it? The Damaged area is on the port side on the top part above and including the rubrail. Can any of you suggest anywhere I can take this rig to? I am in Deep South Alabama and no place in my town wants to do it.(Anyone that I would trust to do it anyway). Thanks in advance

If you have a mind set for something like thisit do it yourself. Hit the project boats section and use the red search function to findout what others have done.

I'm not a bondo man but would think that bondo would crack as most boats flex much more than cars. Others may jump in with better input.

Bondo will flex and may be adequate if properly sealed with primer and a good marine epoxy paint. The proper material to use would be one of the marine products (there are a lot) suitable for that type of repair. For reasonably small jobs that do not require structural repair, I like Marine Tex, a two part product that comes in white, grey and maybe another color(s). I've never expereinced a failure with this product...it bonds tenaciously once chemical hardened to fiberglas and other materials (like tools not properly cleaned).
