I have a 3/16 hole that has been mistakenly drilled in the bottom of my hull, can someone tell me the best way and the most appropriate material to use to repair the hole, the thickness of the hull is aprox. 3/8 "

Thank you

Re: Fiberglass hull repair

 Welcome to iboats.

Well you have many choices.......

Fiberglass then gel coat repair if it shows and it bothers you.... OR

Marine Tex which you can not do a gel coat repair over and will show as a white or gray repair depending on the color your purchase....

OR

Bondo makes a marine epoxy that is a stick and you cut a chunk off knead it in your hand and push it into the hole... this stuff can cure under water too ;) I actually carry one for emergencies on the water.

Re: Fiberglass hull repair

Thanks for the response Bob, the boat is bottom coated so the repair can be touched up, will the bottom coating stick to any of the repair materials mentioned.? Do I need to chamfer the hole?

Also out of the three materials suggested which one is the best? in your opinion.

Thanks,

Brian
