Re: fiberglass questions

Check out the Sticky at the top of this forum on How To's and other Great Information. Look at #2. It has some really good info.

Re: fiberglass questions

to do the top of a deck......you need minimum of 2 layers of 1.5 csm and one 6 oz finishing veil.....this will give you a 9 oz cover.

csm and woven veil....come in 42 or 60 inch rolls depending on what they have in stock. so if its a 60 inch roll and you are only 50 ins wide...x2 of the length will do. but add 25% for tabbing and mistakes. if over 60 ins wide. just double the lengths x2 and no additional for tabbing and mistakes.

this is a basic.
you can calculate sq footage.....but i have found out that you are allways short that way.......mr. murphy with his laws lives in fiberglass shops.

imho....it is allways better to buy local.....(find a fiberglass shop and go there). than to order off line.
a lot of guys in the states order on line...but if you are in a major center......and look around..(just use the yellow pages or call a local boat building/repair place and ask them where they get their fiberglass from). i just cannot see waiting 10 days for delivery of a pail of resin and a 1/4 roll of csm.
