This is a follow-up to my magnet thread.
What kind of glue can I use on fiberglass that will hold a piece of metal to put this light on?

Re: Fiberglass ?

and this will work just fine. The problem is going to be finding the proper quantity as it's an industrial product. I have found it at homedopey in an epoxy syringe under the name of "Plastic Fusion" when I was in the market for small amounts. If you decide to use this methacrylate adhesive mask around the glass to glued, lightly sand and dust off, sand and acetone the metal and go for it. Do the clean up before it sets as it's a grizz to do after it cures. Chief

Re: Fiberglass ?

Weve been using Gorilla glue at work lately and now I swear by it. Its very good for all kinds of applications and will work with most all surfaces, even pourus ones. Including where there is oil and other chemicals present.

Re: Fiberglass ?

Spinner, I know you already got your epoxy but for future reference, Loctite makes a fast cure epoxy. It comes in a can about the size of a regular veggie can. It contains 10 packets and stir sticks. Each packet contains the exact measured amounts. Peel off the top, use the stir stick provided and push down the center of the pack and mix it in its own cup.

I used this product to fasten 30 some lights to mirrors at the country club I worked at years ago. Lights are still up which sorta surprises me because they way about 8 pound each. Loctite part number #21425. I keep a can in my boat. 15 minuets and it is cured. Those tootsi roll epoxy sticks are good also when you need more of a gap filler.

Thanks SS, I have not got anything as of yet.
Where would I be most likely to find the loctite stuff?

Re: Fiberglass ?

Do you have a Grainger store around? They have it and Allied Supply has it. Maybe go into NAPA with the P/N I gave you and they can order it.

Re: Fiberglass ?

May sound kinda dumb but what about 5200 sealant/adhesive. Stuff is just about impossible to remove and you probably already have some laying around.
