Need a little help with a 98 Ficht 175 outboard. End of last season I had most of my fuel system rebuilt, $900 bill. The initial problem was a check engine light and a code 41, I believe, for water in the fuel - due to the new ethanol fuel sitting in my boat, in the dirveway for long periods of time. Took the boat back twice for this same problem, the second time they decided there was a problem with the fule lifting pump? First trip out this year, I still get the engine alarm, and now the engine won't run. What I discovered today was that the fuel tank selector nob has been broken and I believe the problem may be that the engine could not get fuel through the selector valve because the valve ports were not aligned for fuel flow, and only ran for a short while with the fuel in the engine alone. So, I've takne the valve apart, and have fuel running back through the bulb - do I need to bleed the engine of air in the fuel lines? Next question, how do I do this? Can I use the fuel test fittings on the front, top of the engine to bleed the air from the system? On my other outboards, I never ahd such a tough time with airbound fuel systems say from running a tank dry. This has happened a few times with this engine model. Thanks.
