I'm sick and tired of having to send my EMM out for repair. This is the 4th time for me! I am looking for a working or non-working EMM to reverse engineer and create a schematic for. I will post the results for the benefit of everyone who wants to fix these POS computers themselves. If anyone is willing to provide one for the sake of Ficht owners everywhere, I will pay shipping.

I design power electronics for a living and judging by what I see under the goop, these things are not that complicated. I don't want to sacrifice mine just yet :)

Thank you.

Just for discussion sake, how are you going to "un-goop" it?

It's a silicone based material that will peel/pick off the board. It's not a permanent coating. It's a liquid that gets poured in and cures.

You are describing standard electronic potting compound.
I never realized you could just pick it off the board. I thought the stuff was epoxy based, and pretty much impervious to everything.

I tried to get a reg/rect apart once....not successful. I wonder if it is the same stuff.

There's various grades of silicone potting/sealing/conformal coating material. I believe the stuff used for bridge rectifiers is an epoxy based potting compound whereas this stuff is much more flexible and sticky when its cured.
