Howdy, RTuttle.

Welcome to iboats. :)

Do a search for FICHT, bring a cuppajoe.

Please do not repeat post. This is a message board, not a chatroom.

Please do not post in all capitals. On the net this is viewed as SHOUTING.

Good luck, and also search the Johnson/Evinrude troubles forum.

There are some good '98 Fichts out there. If the upgrades have been installed and the plugs are properly indexed, do the regular maintenance and they should be fine.
Run a good brand-name 87-89 oct fuel, and in my opinion, the Bombardier XD-50 oil, or the earlier version (FICHT RAM) would be the only 2 oils I would consider. Change the sparkplugs every year, and the waterpump every-other year.
Do a decarb every year and fog them if not going to be in use for more than 30-45 days.

EDIT: I would also recommend an OEM manual so you understand the standard maintenance intervals and how to index the sparkplugs.
