Is Ficht Software 1.42 user friendly? Does the manual that comes with the software help with diagnosing problems or does it only help with software install. Will I need to buy other manuals to complement the software? I do all my own wrenching and would like to start using this software to troubleshoot my 2001 Evinrude 175's. One only turns up to 4500 RPM's. Other turns up to 5500. Runs great other than that. Think it might be the throttle sensor. Would like to use the software to diagnose. Thanks for any input.

Re: Ficht Software 1.42

The Ficht diagnostic software (current version is 1.42B) is reasonably user friendly, but is is an MS-DOS program, which means you'll need a lap top that runs Win 95/Win 98 to use it.

As far as manuals, you'll need the Software User Guide (p/n 350281) and the engine service manual (p/n 787063).

Keep in mind these "tools" are intended for use by "factory trained" technicians and some of the unwritten tricks & tips are learned at factory training.

-John
