ficht timing verification?

how do i verify my timing on 1999 90 hp fichts, i know where TDC is on both of my motors, and i have the software version 1.42b. with the timing light and both at 690rpm one motor runs 15 degrees BTDC and the other motor runs 23 degrees BTDC. where is it supposed to be at? how far advanced or retarded is the coreect reading?

You should really have the service manual and the software manual to understand how the system works and step by step instructions. It is easy to blow a powerhead should the timing verification be done incorrectly.<br /><br />You have to set the timing pointer per the manual using a piston stop, Eyeballing a screwdriver or a dial indicator is not accurate enough to set the "pointer". Again, it's all in the manual.<br /><br />In a nutshell, you run the motor and go to the timing menu and follow the directions. When the software "freezes" the timing, you enter what you see at the pointer. It will not accept a change of more than 3 degrees at one time.
