1974, 115 HP Johnson. I replaced the ignition switch, which works fine. It was the first time I took my Powershift II control assy apart. The only screw I took out that I didn't need to was the Warm up link set screw in the front of the unit. Anyway, I got the control back together with no problems (at least I thought so). Took the boat for a run. If I move the throttle very slowly from neutral to forward, the engine fails to go into gear but will rev up as I advance the throttle. If I move the throttle from neutral to forward quickly, engine goes into forward with no problem. The control assy went back together so easy I didn't think that was the problem, but it's one heck of a coincidence. Any suggestions?

Double check the positioning of the shift switch arm and roller. If it did not get correctly placed in the detent in the shifter arm, you will have problems.

One more thing erau....post the model number. If it's an electric shift, it's probably earlier than 74'.
