What is you all's thoughts on filesharing? Are you for or against it? I think that the RIAA needs to learn to embrace this new technology rather than fight it. When you download a file from somewhere like Kazaa, you don't even know what you are getting. Some are low quality recordings from various sources, Some are viruses, and some aren't even named right. I wouldn't mind paying a small fee of say $10.00 a month to download mp3's as long as I know that what I'm getting is high quality, non virus infected, and correctly named music. They're fighting this just as the movie industry fought vcr's when they came out. It's costs a heck of a lot less to send a file over the internet digitally than it does to produce all those CD's. Also, look at the crap they're putting out these days. Who wants to buy a cd about "poppin a cop" and "Yo Yo I smacked my B@#$h up." It's apalling that they would even put their name on this crap. CD's are way to overpriced anyway. Not to mention the fact that like 95-98% of the money from the cd sales goes into the pockets of these fat cats at the RIAA. The bands don't make hardly any money off of cd sales. They lead you to think that without cd sales a band would starve. It is from concerts that bands make most of their money. I think the reason the RIAA is fighting this so hard is that they know the bands will realize they don't need the labels anymore. That being said, they will lose the bands and their power of practically forcing new bands into believing that without being signed they can't be successful. Exposure is what makes a band successful, not cd sales. Another thing, how many of you people out there who are against filesharing have ever used a vcr to record a football game or other tv show? C'mon think about it. What is the differnce. Technically you were illegally copying copyrighted material. What about those of you who have ever recorded an audio tape for a friend. Or recorded a friends cd onto an audio tape so you could have it. Or even better yet. How many of you have recorded a song off of the radio. Go ahead, don't be afraid. Admit it. Are they now gonna be allowed to come into our homes and sue us for our "illegally copied tapes." Think about it! Why is it that they are attacking only this medium used to copy music. They're going after Napster and Kazaa and the like. Why shouldn't Sony sue itself. They sell mp3 players, tapes, cdr's, and cd recorders. Therefore, they are aiding and abetting music "pirates." This all sickens me. Also, the broadband companies need to get involved as well. Don't they know that the only reason people pay that outrageous internet bill is so they can download music. DUH it's not to hard to realize that soon they will be hurting. Then comes the CDR manufacturers, then mp3 player manufacturers, then CD recorder manufacturers, the list goes on and on. Wake up! WATCH this closely. The RIAA IS NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY. DON'T let them act as one. Don't give in to their BRAINWASHING to make you think that it is stealing if you download music. I guarantee you that they themselves have at one point in time or another have copied copyrighted material. They are fighting a moot point. They will NEVER WIN!! As long as music can be PLAYED, it can be COPIED!!
I just had to get this out. Thanks for listening. Enlighten me with your thoughts and challenges.

PS: I'm known here by another name but I don't want anyone mad at me.
