Filler for small spot on fiberglass boat

I have a sprint fiberglass boat. I removed back pedestal mount and notice the wood in that spot rotten. It's a small rectangle spot in between doors. It's about 12 inches x 16 inches by 1 inch thick spot. Has hole on top 2 inch diameter and hole below same size into live well. Such a small squared off area I don't want to have cut it just to put more wood in.
Is there a filler at Lowe's or home Depot I can pour into it, that will dry hard enough for pedestal mount?

If so it'll only be adhered to soft/rotten plywood, not what I'd want to mount a pedestal seat to.

Can you post any pix? They are often much more helpful then even the best description.

Agreed, post a picture. Doubt there is anything at Lowe's or Home Depot that would work

Fiberglass resin/filler/putty does not stick to wet surfaces. You would need to grind it down to dry wood, and rebuild it with glass and resin, as a filler is not usually very strong.

Normally you would cut out the plywood from stringer to stringer and screw in a new piece. The key is to screw it to the stringers for strength.

The new plywood would then be glassed over.

+1 on the pictures . . . but I am wondering if this thread will eventually get moved over to the restoration forum :noidea:
