finally got it in the water..but...

i finally got to test my bayliner (86 volvo penta 2.1l 125b/270.)
mostly worked pretty well i did not run it for very long just to operating temp, 180. but when i go from neutral to forward or reverse i feel a little clunk when i get to moving. i don't feel a smooth transition is this normal, would thicker gear oil help?

and half way through the test run i pulled the case to look at the engine. i saw antifreeze droplets on a few parts... i'd like to remove most/all of the antifreeze and replace with water .


also how do i change the oil in this beast???


what are all your resident expert suggestions, teach me i am a blank slate and a fast learner

Check that the shift mechanism is going all the way into gear when you shift. If it's not moving all the way, it's slipping till the rpms drop it into gear fully. Not good over time. You should be using engine oil in the drive. Straight 30W is first choice, next would be 10W40

Fix the leaks, and keep the antifreeze. It also prevent corrosion.

Don thanks for your help...
what i think i failed to mention is the antifreeze looks pure.
it does not look like diluted antifreeze. do you thing it could be the pressure cap on the top of the box next to the heat exchanger?
i looked every where and at temp, i do not see any leaks.

Wipe it off and keep an eye on it.

Test the antifreeze, don't just look at it. Any autoparts store carries antifreeze testers.
If it over -65? it's really heavy, 50/50 mix is about -35?
