Last night the Calipornia State Senate delt a blow to the Enviro-Nazi's, by signing a 3 billion dollar bill to proceed with removing downed and standing dead trees from the forest's in California. This bill has been sitting on the senate table for "6 MONTH'S." This bill was opposed by nearly 70% of all enviro groups in California!!!!!!!

This is NOT a situation where "better late than never" applies. After 20+ death have occured, the total destruction of 2500+ homes and a mininum of 2 billion dollars damage has been done, SO FAR.

I hope this sends a message to all the politicion's in the entire country. I also hope these fat-cat buearocrats will re-think of what has and still is happening in California, when another left wing, socialist group approach's them with a wad of cash and tells the "cash sponge" to vote against programs like the one just approved.

I place 90% of this devistation in California, directly on the shoulders of the "Enviro-Nazi's" and the corrupt politician's, by forcing their socialist adjenda's on the citizens of Califorina, with out getting input from the people who are effected by their "do gooder" attitudes and policies.

 ...Bob in "Crispy Calicrookia"...

That's great news Bob in Calif.

Now they need to pass some sort of legislation that holds those Enviro-Nazi's responsible for their actions causing the deaths of 20 people!

Just my .02

Hmm...That's interesting that the California state senate can pass policy legislation for the US Forest Service. I wonder how they do that?

I have had my run ins with the environmental groups. A couple of years ago, in a shelterwood cut we did in a sensitive area, some environmental group from Toronto talked a TV crew from Sudbury Ontario to go with them to our operating area to show live the devastation. They passed by the real site we were logging as they could not find it by just looking from the road, and they went to a different, less sensitive area. They even had the company wrong when they stated who was cutting it (They fingered one of our competitors as the culprit) and they focused about 95% of their time, and all of the TV time, on one 12" spruce tree that was damaged--And yes indeed it was damaged. It was left to be used as a bumper log on the skid trail, so the logs we were removing would hit this spruce tree, and not the trees that were being retained.

That spruce tree was scheduled to be taken out once all the work in the area was complete. And it was.

It was kind of comical...

So I don't have a ton of love for many environmental groups. But forest management is complex, and unfortunately rarely lends itself to a simplistic soundbite. Standing dead trees need to be taken out, but many times they are simply too dangerous to fell by anyone other than professionals, and they for the most part have little market value. someone has to pay for this activity.

I can also understand some of the environmental groups frustrations at times, as often one problem is identified, with the proposed solution having nothing whatever to do with the original problem. (Like the healthy forests initiative)

The solution lies in getting both the politicians and the radical environmental groups and the courts out of the forest management arena, and get professional forest managers in there, hold them accountable for results, and properly fund them.

I's not sure you can get there from here, no matter whose side you are on.

Hi Plywoody....

Just for clarification, the majority of these forest areas are not controled by the U.S. Forest Service, as they are state owned or are private property, therefor, the California Division of Forestry is the managing agency for these areas.

...Bob in Calif...
