i finaly got my new ( to me ) boat out and am looking to buy a new prop. it is a 17 foot lowe bass boat with an 84 mercury 50 hp on it. nothing special. i was running 28 mph at 5600-5700 rpm. the part # of the prop on it now is 48-73136-13. i think that is a 13 pitch 10 3/8 inch 13 spline.from what i read the engine rpm should be lower (5000-5500).what prop should i buy. should i go stainless or aluminum what kind of speed can i expect with a different prop. i had about 800 pounds in the boat. me and my budy are prety big. thanks

Speed is pretty close to the norm 28-33 especially wth 2 aboard.
rpm seems a little high and would be with only one aboard.4 cyl. 50 rpm range is 4,800 to 5,500 a stainless in the same demension would probably put you at 5,500 to 5,600 and give you a little more speed.you need to watch the rpm with only one aboard.
