finding HIN on a very old boat

Hi all, just acquired a very old Starcraft Jon Boat and looking to register it in my state (IL) so I can put a motor on it to ues on my local lake BUT can't locate any hull numbers on this particular boat. The last registry sticker on the boat is expired 1975 so my assumption is that it was pre 1972 boat... it does not appear that any original HIN plate was ever on this hull... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help!

probebly pre 72 but if not some manufactures put it behind the dash as another location or someplace on the inside of hull , good luck searching

HIN's came out in '72. prior to that was serial numbers.

Did you get any paperwork? From past posts by Illinois members, lack of papers makes IL registration almost impossible.
