Fine at idle, dies at speed. 1987 Evinrude 15

Recently bought a small skiff that came with a 1987 Evinrude 15 hp. Starts right up and idles smooth, easily gets on plane, then dies and won't start back up for a few minutes. Idles best with the rich-lean knob maxed out. Changed the spark plugs. Any thoughts? I'm new to outboards so pardon my ignorance.

Have someone pump the fuel primer bulb constant, acting as a manual fuel pump. If that cures the problem, either the fuel pump is faulty or a fuel/air leak exists in the fuel line somewhere between the fuel pump and the fuel supply.
