I have seen a number of boats with built-in fire extinguisher cabinets but can't find any source for one! Can anyone help with a source for such a product?

In my opinion a fire extinguisher should be ready at hand rather than inside a cabinet.

Good luck with your search.

Gotta agree with Grant, last thing you need in an emergency is someone trying to get an extiguisher out of a cabinet, I did see at the marina someone who flowers and stuff on the one in the galley.

Jim

Hey snapperbait, been awhile. I figured if anybody knew you would. Actually I finally found several at various online sources, but Westmarine is closer. How's your Tiger doin' and how are you doin?

Hey Reelpoor, what area of Gulfport are you located in?

There's another one available without the cover for those who want to get to it sooner or save the money. It's made by SSI and cost me about $20.00 at BoatUS two years ago.

Re: Fire Extinguisher Storage Cabinet

I think you would definitely want an enclosed box is you are mounting the extinguisher outside or on deck. Also keep in mind the extinguisher must be USCG approved. That USCG approval (as well as UL’s approval) requires the extinguisher be mounted with the supplied bracket, as per the instructions. When mounted per the instructions with the supplied bracket it will allow you to immediately access the extinguisher while panicking...without having to fumble around trying to figure out how to get the thing off the wall. It would be really nit-picky to cite someone that improved on the mount, such as putting it in a box where all you do is open the door and there it is.

Hey snapperbait, mine is still doin' great; sure ain't as pretty as yours though, she is well used. One of my future projects is a paint job.
