Id like to stay under 3k, closer to 2k really.

My local lake has no hp limit but a better fishing lake close by has a 10hp limit so that may be a consideration.
Anyway....
To the guys with experience with fishing boats, which would you choose for a reliable/low maintenance fishing rig and bang for the buck?

76 ranger / 75 hp .... $2200 http://decatur.craigslist.org/boa/4556452379.html

14ft jon / 9.9hp 4 stroke ...... $1700 http://springfieldil.craigslist.org/boa/4566046428.html

15ft polarcraft / 40hp ..... $2250 http://springfieldil.craigslist.org/boa/4565609249.html

15 ft star craft / 35 hp ...... $1000 http://springfieldil.craigslist.org/boa/4565609754.html

Bass Tracker II / 50hp ........ $1995 http://bn.craigslist.org/boa/4561132680.html

Really appreciate any suggestions/concerns

If I was in the market for a low maintenance small fishing rig out of the ones you posted links to, I would be looking at the 14 ft with the 2012 merc,
Then second would be the 15ft polarcraft.

For long term usage and ease of repair, I would be looking at aluminum boats

Thanks for the replies, Im trying to buy the one with the 9.9 4 stroke.
What really sucks is... this exact boat sold for $900 a week or two ago, and now the lucky buyer is trying to resell it to make a buck (wants $1700 now)

Even then its still a good buy considering the motor is just now broke in and over $2000 new.
I just wish I would of seen it sooner....

Anyway he wants $1700 firm, but since I know what he paid for it I asked if he would take $1500, still havnt got an email back, hope I didnt **** him off.

well....

I feel bummed, went and took the money out and had planed to go buy the 14ft jon with new 9.9hp 4 stroke merc.

Call the guy and he explains how the guy he bought it from didnt have trailer title so he was waiting to get it from him, and that the boat title was sent in to be transferred to his name.

He said he had all the boat paperwork and it was clean and good to go and the only issue was he was waiting on the trailer title.

I didnt like the idea of not having titles in had, so I passed.

Was my concerns justified or would it of been safe to buy it?

I think the Ranger, Polarcraft, Bass Tracker are all good looking boats. But if you cannot decide at the moment and are not in a rush, you could always consider the affordable inflatable boat selection. Such as the Intex Mariner 4. Well good luck.
