First Boat - Thanks to All

Just wanted to thank you all for the information provided in this community - I spend days (and nights) browsing through all forums to learn as much as possible for my first boat, a 92 Crownline 176 BR. I am so excited now to get the boat on the water - and my wife also, so I should be safe not to end up as a single boater ;) . I am sure I will have more questions down the river - so please bear with a newbie.

Welcome to iboats.

Have you taken a boater safety course? You and the wife should take one together ;)

Yes, we did - I worked as safety engineer, so it's already in my blood. If you have no clue what you are doing - stay away or learn it.

At iboats we require all users to post pictures of their new boats or we terminate your membership :)

Sweet looking boat! I think you only have to tie it up when it is in the water, though ;)

Have you been out on it yet? From your avatar, it looks like you are downsizing a bit

Thanks for the welcome - and yes, I was just checking if I could use the vacuum power cord as a mooring line...

She is still in the process of getting ready: got new trim cylinder (cracked seal plate), new starter, rebuilt carb (won't idle when warm), new blower, new bow cover, keelguard, new anchor light, some trailer work etc.

Can't wait to get her wet

@ lowkee: you are right, I am downsizing from 650 feet, 22,000 HP 6 cyl B&W, but the Crownline is a real fuel miser in comparison.... (I always look at the positive side of things, life is too short).

...and we had a blast! That boat runs awesome. And we didn't fare too bad as first timers: my wife backed the trailer into the water, I started the motor and pulled the boat into the water, all in all 2 minutes including plug. It was at a marina, so we had quite an audience, but we got thumbs up. Our Jeep felt a bit neglected as he refused to roll up the windows after launch, but one family offered to have an eye on it. When we returned, took us 1 minute to retrieve, again got thumbs up. And the best: my wife did most of the work - trailering, bringing the boat up to speed - 4200 rpm, we didn't dare to go faster as it was a bit choppy - heading back to port and into the marina. What more can you ask for? Met great people and had a wonderful time out there. We are addicted now:D
