First Impeller job

Hi everyone
This is my first impeller repair.
I've got a 1988 Evinrude 14SPL Mod.VE14RCCS.
My water pump indicator stop working.
Water will still comes out the exhaust.
Can a person do the impeller replacement,
without a vise?
This is the first time the impeller has been replaced.
Book that I have shows a vice that I haven't got.
Can a person do the job with the motor on the boat?
Any help on would be very helpful.
Thanks

Don't need the vice. Just some patience and tools... And yes, no reason to take the motor off the boat...Also, run a piece of wire up the indicator hose to clear it out...

A BIG WELCOME FP -

You will have to drop the lower unit. A shop manual will give you all the procedures. It is a relatively easy job.

All the vice does is hold the lower unit in a convenient way for you to work on it. Nice to have but definately not necessary.
