I don't post here much but have been an avid reader since purchasing my first boat last July. Spring has finally sprung in north/central Texas. After some showers yesterday morning the afternoon was beautiful so my son and I took the cover off the boat and gave it a good washing and detailing. Then I hooked up the battery charger in anticipation of today being our frist trip out of the season. This morning it started out a bit chilly so we couldn't head out very early. I did decide that it was time to replace the stereo in the boat as we found it to only play out of one speaker instead of both. So a trip to the store to buy a new head unit, and what the heck, might as well splurge on some better speakers too, and back home followed by an hour or so of installation and the boat sounded better than ever.
By that time it had warmed up to 80 so we hooked up the boat, got her all prepped, loaded in the life jackets, ropes, bumpers, etc and headed to the lake. Wouldn't you know it, by the time we got there some clouds had rolled in and the wind had picked up. Not enough to deter us though. Backed the boat up and she started right up. My son and I enjoyed running around the mostly-empty lake. When we finally had the engine warmed up and cranked it up to top speed we both had the biggest grins on our faces!
We stayed out about 90 minutes or so. Luckily the wife and daughter didn't want to go since there wouldn't be any water activities. We didn't need them griping about being bored! When we were done we loaded right back up, cleaned up a few things after pulling her out of the water and headed home.
What a great way to start my first full season of boating with my son!
