hello gentelman,

i bought a new 2008 yamaha 4 stroke 15 hp short shaft pull start.in the yr of 2008

this motor was run in a test tank an ran..i brought it home an stored it insidemy house in the spare bedroom.
the way i was told to from the dealer.tiller handle up.an i'd be ok.

this motor has'nt been run since then.i was saveing up to buy a nice boat.
well went to pull an it went no were.like it was stuck.it won't turn over.or even pull.

i have never even run this motor.total run time on motor 2 min's in test tank.
than stored in my house.

i'm very dissappointed,an is this a very easy issue that will be taken care of.
an should'nt it still be under warrenty???

i'm kinda scared that i'm out $2500.00 an did'nt even get to enjoy the water
yet...just give's me a sick feeling inside...

so please let me hear your advice,an please help if you know what could of went on while it was stored.

thank-you
steve

sorry to vent, but i just have to get this off my chest...before it keep's eating me up inside.

hope this helps. try removing the spark plugs. the motor may be hydro-locked.
oil may have entered the cylinders. this will make a mess when you try to turn the motor over. you may want to take it out side. good luck!

blackbox,

that would also make the pull start not pull while in netrual position????

it make's perfect sense.oil in there,an has no room to move to crank over engine..

should i take it back to dealer,or can i do this myself????
because i did notice that oil came out of the prop.
is this normal or just over flow???

an again thank-you.

i worked long hrs an alot of overtime to afford something nice.
an i'd hate to see a major issue on a motor that has 2 min's run time.

thank's again
an have a great day today.

Build you a stand that you can store your motor on in the straight up and down position just like it was on the back of a boat. You'll never have that problem again. The 15 hp won't pull or start in gear either by the way. The gear shift must be in Nuetral.

gotya welcome to iboats.

for future reference and for others, never store a motor like that. Someone did that to one of our motors at a hunt club over the winter and we didn't even bother to fix it. I can't believe a dealer told you that but now you know where not to go for service!
I just saw a motor advertised on CL sitting like that--bad marketing!

Well it doesn't hurt for a short period of time like a week or two but NEVER for any extended period of time.
