so i took the boat and the 300 HP V8 johny to my dealer to make sure i had everything done right.everything was in check and he handed my first test prop.i asked if he thought the transom would hold he said yes it will hold with no problem.the boat is rated for the weight of a 200 HP 4 stroke max so he said it should hold just fine.so i got the boat lowered in the water and did the break in.the next day i was going to see what this thing could do.so i put the hammer down bow shoots to the sky and the acceleration was soooo great i mean you could feel it in your chest.so i get it planned out and everything is just moving soooo fast.so i look at the speedometer and the needle went all the way around past 65 and past the blank space and was on the back side of the little pin that the needle rest on at idle.this is when things went really bad.a 6 foot wave comes out of no where and i hit it at wot.the boat was in the sky and it was pretty high up there.the boat hits the water so hard when i land i go flying through the da** windshield.lucky i had no feed back steering so the outboard cant turn it self.lucky i was int hurt to bad i got up and grab the wheel and here is a ship right in front of me so i turn so hard to port the boat starts taken on water and alot of it.by this time i'm turned away from the ship and the whole time i was throttling back but i did not want to go through the windshield again so i slowed down slowly.i never did get to check my RPM readings.but i had enough for one day i was kinda in shock.so now i know why everyone says dont go over the max HP.but im not never taken off the 300 HP johny.but i think ill stick to lakes with it.
