Hello,

First, I'm very sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section or this had already been answered. I've searched the forums and other sites and haven't found very good information.

I purchased a '83 Bayliner Capri with a Volvo Penta AQ125A this past spring. It needed a lot of work so I had service performed on it and had the engine totally rebuilt and now it runs great.

He is no longer doing work on boats so I'm trying to winterize it myself with my fathers help since he has a boat but his boat is much newer and he wasn't quite sure how to help me.

Thus far I've topped off the tank and added Stabil and allowed the engine to run for 20 mins at least.
I've also fogged the carb and fogged all of the spark plugs.

My father found two drain bolts on the bottom (I can't seem to find any good info as to where the drains are located and how many there are). He found two and loosened them but no fluids came out.

I looked at it today and found the drain on the copper tubing which drained some water and I poured in rv antifreeze but it only poured back out where the drain plug was on the copper tube. I'm worried there is water lower in the engine block that didn't drain since the antifreeze didn't pour out of the bottome drains at all, only out of the plug I removed from the copper tube.

I'm really hoping someone can provide me with some good information as to where to find all of the drain plugs and all I need to do to make sure theres no harm done over the winter. We get very cold here, easily around 0 degrees for extended periods of time.

Thanks in advance for any help that's provided me.

Welcome to the forum - here is a link to your engine on the volvo-penta site.

Here is a link to the adults only section with instructions on winterizing.

Here is an outside link for the manual for your engine. It should go over the winterization process.

Generally, you drain both sides of the block via a valve at the lowest side of each block, drain the hoses at the front of the engine leading two/from the thermostat, and then the risers and manifolds. Take a old wire coat hanger and cut off a 12" length which you can use to push up into each drain line after removing the nut to break up any rust or sediment that may be preventing water from draining.

IMO, if you drain all the water there is NO NEED for anti-freeze......

You don't drain the engine block, it's a closed cooling system and should have antifreeze in it at all times. Like a cars radiator. But you do have a raw water side that has to be drained.
You need to download the owners manual for the engine. It goes into more detail on winterizing than the service manual does.
You can download one free from Volvo at Publication search - Publications / Manuals : Volvo Penta
