I have a 1989 crestliner phantom. With 1989 120 evinrude on it. It's time for a new prop. The one on it is beat up. I had to reshape it with a hammer and an anvil. I'm not sure what pitch and diameter I need. The boat weighs 1100 lbs plus 500 for gear, fuel, me, and the new flooring. My target wot rpm is 5800. I currently get 42 mph with the beat up prop. A nice new clean aluminum prop might help save gas and more power. I would rather have a prop that will take the load off the motor to help it last longer than going faster. Any ideas or suggestions.

The prop size should be stamped on the barrel or under the prop nut.
What are the prop numbers and the present max rpm?

Re: Fish and ski prop question

You also said your "target rpm" is 5800. That's nice but to suggest a prop we need to know what the WOT rpm is NOW, using the prop you have NOW, and what the diameter and pitch is for the prop you have NOW. One other factor you failed to mention is whether the boat has the extended transom or not. That provides a bit more setback than a standard transom and you may be able to run an inch more pitch provided you experiment with engine mounting height.
