Hey all,
Newbie here, thought I'd see if anyone has some alternative tips/tricks to get the fishfinder to stop flashing depth at speeds above 20mph! This is on a brand new Garmin Striker Plus 5cv with that HUGE GT-20 transducer it comes with.
This has happened on two different boats now (just bought a new boat, pulled this from the old boat and installed on new boat). I've moved the transducer around quite a bit on the old boat, and now doing the same thing on the new boat. I've followed several instructions on installing the transducer a quarter inch down from the horizontal plane on the 'ducer below the hull, made sure its not in the wake of any of the rails under the boat, moved sensor up and down a half inch (trying each time to see if it works better or worse) and I'm just coming up with no remedy.
Just an fyi, the new boat is an aluminum hull and a 150 jet outboard is the main power, so that should eliminate the issue of prop wash.
I really want to like this Garmin, but I am not happy about losing depth at speeds over 20mph. I run a fair amount of streams/lakes/reservoirs that are 5-10 feet deep in certain areas and sometimes even shallower than that.
Any info appreciated!
Chris
