Why would a BottomLine fish finder interfere with the normal operation of a VHF radio. Whenever the FF is on, you can hear the clicking sounds of the FF transmission pulse in the VHF radio. The VHF Radio power is connected directly to the battery while the Bottom Line FF power lead is connected to the boats accessory fuse block. The radio antenna is however located close to where the FF is mounted. Shielded cable is used on the transducer lead and VHF antenna.

I'm not a pro by any means, but I had the same problem this spring.I ended up moving my transducer line away from ALL other wiring, and running the power wires direct to the battery, a pain in the a.., but if all else fails I will read the instructions. :D

good luck
Jim

Re: Fish Finder / VHF Interference

I have a similar problem. I tried lots of things and actually called the manufacturer of my depth finder. They explained the problem as being RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) produced by the screen. They suggested moving things away - the boat is to small for that to make a difference. They now tell me that if I return the unit to them they can adjust the channel on which the interference will be heard! Hopefully I can dump it to a channel I never use.
