Ahoy, Mattttt.

There is a recent post in the Fishing Forum asking essentially the same thing.

For many years I used Boraxo powdered hand soap successfully but it is very hard to find now.

Re: fish smell

My neighbor gave me a little stainless steel box about the size of a bar of soap. She ordered it from a magazine. After you wash your hands with soap and water you take this little box and use it just like a bar of soap under cold water and it takes the smell away. I don't know how it works but it does. Fish, onions, garlic it doesn't matter. SOmething about it kills the smell. I'll find out what magazine and let yall know.

Over the years I've found that toothpaste does an excellent job with odour removal. The test for me is when going to bed and she lets me near........
Ross

The stainless steel pieces work fairly well. If you can find a rounded one, that is best. I have a square one and have to use some soap with it to get it to slid over my hands. It gets 95%+ of the smell out.

Re: fish smell

As a chef I have worked with some very pungent items and have found that apple cider vinegar got the odors out quite sufficiently.

Re: fish smell

Ok, here is the real cure for removing the fish odor from your hands or other body parts. It is the juice from fresh lemons. After you wash the fish slime off your hands, squeeze some lemon juice on your hands and rub them together as you would do when you wash them. If you only have one hand, have someone help you.
Then just rinse your hand(s) with water and dry.
:D ...Bob in Calif...

I've had good luck with a citrus based orange hand cleaner. Gets most of it right away. Good Luck :)
