Re: fisher

The older ones (before they were taken over by tracker marine) were excellent. They had aluminum decks and the only wood was encased in the transom.

When Tracker took over that changed........but they are still good boats.

The older, the better.

First they were great.
Then Brunswick bought them and they became -- ok.
Then Tracker bought them and they are, .... well... Trackers.

Don't like the way their welded hull tracks or slides in the water. Brunswick basically gave them the welded hull from the Spectrum line of the early 90's.

Re: fisher

I had a 2000 Fisher 16? side counsel and I could not get it to stop leaking. I replaced about 15 rivets and it still leaked. Then I put an automatic bilge pump in.

I called Tracker to see if I could get any warranty coverage and they said no. The warranty is only good for a couple years.

When I pulled up the floor to replace the rivets all I can say is that thing was a tin can. Very little foam and ribs for support. Know wonder it leaked. The boat looked like new from the out side.

I now own a Lund 1725 Rebel SS and can say what a difference.

Re: fisher

I don't know about their pointy front boats; but I have an '02 fisher freedom 180 fish pontoon and it's built quite well. The deck isn't wood; but what looks to be 3/4" white plastic. Polyetheline perhaps. It is a sound boat and has very little flex. Just enough I suppose to keep it from breaking. Caught in a storm; we took 3 footers over the deck with no damage. I was told it was made by tracker.

My buddy has(i believe)a 2003 16 1/2 ft deep v with a 60hp mercury. We`ve had that thing in lake Erie in (to say it mildly)less than ideal conditions for a 16 1/2ft boat.Has handled everything flawlessly. Its very wide, stable(basically a targa by tracker).W/60hp itll run @34mph and thats plenty for Erie!It has served him very well and i,personally would recommend it to anyone.Cant say ANYTHING about any other type boats they have so I wont.

Mine is actually a 1990, and so far it has been a great boat for me.Leaks very little. I mean hardly none.I see other boaters pull their plugand mine leaks less. So little it might just be splash. thanks for your guys input.
