I am in the market for a new fishfinder with DV and chirp. I will be replacing a furuno fcv667 with a thru hull transducer on a 28 BHM. I have a chartplotter/fishfinder combo so I don't really need a combo but have heard the stand alone fishfinders are not as good as the combos. I don't know if there is any truth to that or not. I like the image in DV mode on the raymarine dragonfly 7 pro as well as the Garmin echomap 74dv and have also looked at the Garmin striker 7dv both of the garmins need the GT-23th transducer I have been told for the chirp function. I don't know which transducer the dragonfly requires for the chirp. I am looking to spend 1000.00 for the set up. Any suggestions guidance or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The best sounders In the business are black boxes followed by stand alone. Combos should only be considered as a compromise on size or price.

Your not getting real CHIRP for that price. The transducer alone is over a $1k.

The best sounder on the market in your price range is the Furuno FCV 628 (per say CHIRP) combined with an Airmar B60 transducer. You will not have down view but resolution and target separation are second to none
