I'm still looking at fishfinders. The Lowrance Elite 5x and Elite 5 DSI are both in the same price ballpark (on the iboats catalog). Not clear to me exactly what DSI is and the benefits. I notice the 5x is higher power than the DSI (500 w vs. 300 w), but the DSI feature seems to bring them both into the same price range.

Anybody have experience with either of these units? Pros and cons of each?

To clarify: given that they are both in the same price range, which is more important - more power (300 vs. 500 w) or having the DSI feature?

My use will be strictly salt water, mostly in San Diego Bay w/max depth maybe 60 ft., but sometimes off-shore hitting a max depth of maybe 200 ft.

I use the Elite 5 DSI and it really gives you a great picture of what is down there. Can't help you with the salt water use as I'm strickly a Crappie fisherman.
