Fishfinder

I have never owned a fishfinder and I am planning on buying a new one. My question is does it matter if you mount the screen close to the transducer and roll the excess wire up or should the wire be stretched out a little. Didn't know if rolling it would cause interference with the signal

I have never had a problem rolling mine up, just make sure you dont roll it up to tight, dont smash the wires

Just coil it up neatly, and cable tie it. Now, the name is kinda a misnomer, as you don't use it for finding fish. Common newbie mistake. Read some of the fishfinder topics in the electronics forum, and you will find some good replies.
