fishfinders- what happened to 3d?

I remember seing a lot of 3 dimensional fish finders years ago, now all I see is 2 dimensional. what happened? Is there any 3d unit left?

I was looking at a 3D model the other day, it used 3 frequencies. Can't remember what brand it was.<br /><br />If I can find the catalogue I'll chime in again.

I have a humminbird Matrix47-3D. Love it. six-beam transducer (acts as an 11-beam with interlacing), speed, temp, gps-ready (attach nmea), and draws standard 2D as well as a textured 3d bottom view. Works very well. <br /> <br /><br /> http://www.humminbird.com/products.asp?ID=492

For a minute there, 3D was the "in" thing and everybody advertised the heck out of it. I had a Humminbird 3D fishfinder on the 16' Texas Maid Fiesta that I really liked. Sold it with the boat and don't remember the model. I remember that I got it for a reasonable price because it was being discontinued. Had a shallow depth range (maybe 150'), so we couldn't see the deepest parts of McPhee Reservoir. I would like to have another one, but I want color this time.
