I'd use tempered aluminum. Very strong although its a bit tough to bend. If you have a good size bench vise, it shouldn't be to hard to fabricate one. You should be able to find tightening knobs at Radio Shack or some store that carries C.B. supplies. In fact you might find a generic mount bracket for a C.B. or external speaker that would work depending on the size of your unit. I rig a foot plate for my Bottomline so I could swivel my unit forward while in bow of boat fishing from the casting seat.
