Three of us headed out this morning to do some striped bass fishing and the morning turned out to be very successful. took a little longer then usuall to get 10 mackerel but it was all we needed for our 3 hour trip. We landed 6 nice fish all over 38 inches. not many people out today because of the threat of thunder showers and by the time we came in from fishing the sun was shinning.

Re: Fishing Glousta

It seems that Cape Anne is not so far from Boston after all...
But now that I got your attention,I sent you this little map,and since we all belong to this same board and we have been friends so long and we really want to share our experiences, maybe you can just pinpoint that little honey hole of yours on this little map thingy.
But seriously,We will be rolling into Gloucester around 05.30 on Friday morning and we will be with Kevin until about 16.00 in the afternoon. we are aiming for Haddock and Cod,so it will probably be on the east side of the Bank.
There will be six of us. It is a very nice idea to cut across to the Gull restaurant, but I will have to see how the rest of my group feels about that.I'll see what I can do.
Another thing. How do the stripers react to six ounce bucktails trolled on wire line or lead core line?

Re: Fishing Glousta

Good Morning!!
Very hard to fish wire line around our way, to many lobsta traps to get hooked up on. Best way is live linining mackerel when availible, some times live turd pollock and then switch to chunking herring. You can buy case of frozen herring at bait & tackle at yankee fleet bait shop, if going for the day get 2 cases because you need to chum.

There is plenty of live bait on the bank, many humpback whales feeding on sand eels, so take a camera.

There are stripers on the bank so if you get tired of fishing cod and haddock, jig up a mackerel and catch a striper, but keep in mind that they are ellegal to keep outside the 3 mile limit.

If I remember I will walk down the dock when ya arrive at the end of the fishing day.

Fridays long range forcast is, morning rain, high temps for Boston 65 degrees. So should be about 55 degrees around here. Might wanna take a coat along.
