Getting ready to leave dock check fluids outdrive resievor so full its ready to explode.?somethings wrong?.
So I brought boat home pulled props off found some melded mono fishing line right in the seal see pics.
You can see oil in side the rear prop.boat never acted bad no noise no vibration.only noticed because of fluid.
Took out drive off brought it to the shop to be told the bearing behind the retainer was gone, wasted no needle
bearings left, the chips went though the upper too.the whole outdrive is junk.(or just there opinion?)
6850 for a remand,7135 new mercuiser. The fluid did smell burnt when i drained the resievor. Did not drain outdrive
shop said leave it in there so they could see,so I didn't the water or chips. Called Ins.pray for the best.

:welcome: to iboats

Insurance should cover this issue less your deductible.

Not sure if they're including new props or maybe installation but that might be a retail prices as here's new for $5495
Sterndrive - Mercruiser p/n 5441600TP, Bravo 3, 2.00-Performance Product Technologies

and $4695 for Certified Pre Owned
Sterndrive - Mercruiser, CPO "Certified Pre-Owned" Bravo 3, 2.00 Early Design (#CPO896346425)-Performance Product Technologies

Shipping charges I'm sure are extra and sometimes extra large and heavy products they deliver to a loading dock or need a forklift.

Re: Fishing line behind props, lower uint replacement

Meet with mr ins. man at shop yesterday to look at outdrive. They had it all broke down and speed out on the bench.the ins. guy was looking milky fuild and more wear or more water??? He's answer was no sure evidence of intrusion of water.Shame on me for getting out of water so Quick A.The thrush bearing on the outter porp shaft was gone and did make some marks on the lower gears and blacked the shaft from the heat. It could of been from age and presser but seal looked like crap.I'll probable go with the new drive from PPT.I know he's of by 1800 bucks just for a drive. Thanks for the info.
