I have a 24' Tahoe fish and fun with square railing. Im not sure of the exact dimentions of the railing but I want to know of a good fishing rod holder for them. I would like to purchase about 5 of them. If anyone on here has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Fishing Rod Holders

This is what I have done. I have 1" square tube. I like the Atwood holder pictured in the link below. I have drilled a 3/8's" hole in my top rail at several locations around my toon. From the Atwood holder I remove the trianglular piece & toss it I take the wing nut off and use it for something else. I peel upt the plastic on the shaft of the holder about 1". I then take a thread die and thread additional thread in the newly exposed shaft. Then I take a regular nut (5/16's x 20 I think) and run it up the threaded shaft all the way up and over the new threads untill it snuggs up tight. I can now take the holder and just drop it into any of the holes I have drilled in the rail. No need to try to tighten them down, the two layers of your square tube will hold the holder in place. You can then move the holders around where ever you have drilled a hole in the rail.

I bought mine at Cabels. It's a pontoon rod holder, part #01-4829, for $21.99. It mounts easily and works great. Made specifically for a pontoon w/square rails.

I use the Cabalas rod holders. I don't use the pontoon square tube attachment but you can buy square tube attachment points seperately so I can try one sometime if I want to. I like the Cabelas rod holders (Scotty at Gander Mnt. same holder) because they can be removed for storage and replaced in seconds. Here's a link to the holders with square tube pontoon base.

You can get flush mount, raised, round tube bases seperately. you can also buy the rod holders seperately. I also like the rod holders. Thats a plus.

Can't go wrong with Driftmaster. Will last forever. They have a nice flat rail base that work great for pontoon rails.

Be sure to get left handed threads for port side. I use the Lil Duo, works great for drift and trolling.

Available at all the usual on-line stores.

I'm with the guys that use the Driftmasters, they work great. I don't use the left handed threaded holders for the port side, instead I nut the normal right hand threaded holders, from the bottom. When they are nutted from the bottom, the port side holders will tighten when a fish hits.
