fishon trolling brakes

looking for experience with the trolling plates.<br /><br />i have a 35 hp evinrude. i found atrolling plate by tempres on e bay, no instructions as to what hp it applied to. the plate is approx, 10 by 10.5 inches.<br />what is the optimum spacing between the prop and the trolling plate?<br /> i tried it out the boat would not move and the water hit the plate and disffued sideways.<br /><br />thanks for any advise

hello<br /> thats what its supposed to do. it slows the fwd trolling speed.

I used a small plate on my 9.9 Evinrude, it should raise and flatten out as the rpms increas. If it won't raise up at all then the springs are too strong. I would think that the mounting plate would determine how much space is there.
