Hello folks,

Im currently in the process of fitting a new interior into my Fletcher GTO 170.

In the process I had to cut out the floor and have cut some fresh 9mm marine plywood to fit as a replacement.

I understand that I have to glass the floor into the deck but i fully intend to "not" use any nails to fix the floor to the rafters. Can I use a thickened epoxy resin as a glue for this purpose?

Many Thanks

Stan

Re: Fitting a new interior

Stan,

Are we to assume that the 9mm marine plywood will be larger than the hole which was cut?

Or is the plan to fit the piece into the hole? (this second option sounds more difficult and less likely to succeed based on what I can imagine at the moment)

Re: Fitting a new interior

The 9mm thick ply has been cut into the shape of the old floor that came out and fits perfectly.

The question is what glue i should use to stick it to the rafters/runners underneath?

Should I use a thickened epoxy resin or should i use some other glue?

I also need to know if its ok to completely coat the new floor in resin prior to fitting to promote long life?

Thanks

Stan

Encapsulating (or completly covering) the floor would be an excellent idea to make it last longer. This is only if you use epoxy resin though. It is not reccomended that you use polyester to encapsulate I'm not sure why, but since it sounds like you already have some epoxy resin then go ahead and coat the floor with it.
